Getty Images“You’re writing an article on life before and after having a kid?” the parent of a 2-year-old told me. “You need a novel. It’s night and day.” I spoke with another guy, a 34-year-old named John, who’s already built a family of six, with four kids between the ages of 2 and 8. Describing the moment he brought their first one home, he said: “My wife and I looked at each other, and she said, ‘What do we now?’ I said something like, ‘I don't know. Does she do any tricks?’" And so it began.
Maybe parenthood is different for everyone, but there are a few constants every man experiences. That's why I'm taking a shot at illustrating, in GIFs, the dramatic life makeover that occurs when a man (and his lady) bring a screaming, crying bundle of joy into the home. It's by no means comprehensive, but it will give you a peek into the lifestyles of parents everywhere.
