Mom Traumatized Avoids Discussing Emotional Issues With Children

A mother who holds the baggage of trauma has been seen refraining herself from discussing any emotional issue at length with their children.

And this is what a study reveals which shows a big impact of mother's experiences on her style of parenting.

Why a mother does avoid discussing emotional issues?

When a mother herself undergoes a great deal of trauma in her childhood, the memories is so strong in her mind that she sometimes fails to recover out of them. And this becomes a part of her personality. The trauma is so deep seated that it does not come out of her mental system. And whenever she comes across anything similar to the same, she is correlates or remembers her own tragic moments. A person with such a mental state finds it difficult to listen to any such issue, leave alone providing a solution to it.

How does it affect the child?

The childhood of a child comes once. And this is the time when many issues crop up, which may need a stable handling and an emotional understanding too. The first person a child falls back upon is the mother for any kind of emergency he is into.

This means, if the mother is not quite stable emotionally, then she may not be able to meet the requirements of motherhood.

In the process the gap in the child's life would remain as it is without being resolved. Hence, leaving the child's story an incomplete one where he could not learn to handle an emotional issue because he could not get an opportunity to imbibe it from his mother.

What is the way out?

Keeping the future generation in mind, whenever a child undergoes any emotional trauma, the adults or the parents around should take charge of the situation and ensure that it is out of the system of the victim. Otherwise, it is seen to be leaving a deep scar on one's mind affecting the entire personality.

Hence the counselling can be done either at home or a professional help can also be looked for.

What if the issue is not dealt on time?

With time, any emotional pain gets deeper and deeper leaving a large impact on the life of the person and the generation associated with him of her. It reflects in the behaviour and it also "shows upon" the various relationships one shares. Motherhood is certainly one of the important rather the most vital relationship and it gets affected largely.

Summary

They say, for a child to be happy, a mother has to be happy first. Hence, a traumatized mother would certainly feel uncomfortable accepting or witnessing something similar in her child's life. To handle the same would be another mammoth task for. In spite of bets of her intentions and wishes she may not be able to deliver at this juncture and therefore there would be another personality growing up "not so competent" to handle an emotional turmoil in life.

Discussing Religion with your Partner

Romantic relationships are intimate and personal, as is religion. However, just because both are deeply personal doesn't mean they always come together easily. Religion is a powerful part of life for some people and it can have a profound effect on your dating and relationships.

As with any part of your relationship, you should always be up front and honest about your religious beliefs with your partner and potential partner, as strong religious beliefs can sometimes make a relationship stronger or can be part of its demise. If you've decided to sit down and talk about religion with your partner there are a few things you can do to make sure the conversation goes smoothly.

While differences in religious beliefs can be a challenge in a relationship, it doesn't have to be a deal breaker. Make sure that you are aware of this before you begin the conversation and go into it knowing that you can likely move beyond any differences you may have. When first starting the conversation, make sure you are respectful of each other's views. While your views may be different, you should avoid judging one another and listen to what they have to say.

If you are willing to accept each other's religious differences, you should make sure you are each aware of how your families feel about you being with someone who has different beliefs than them. Though this shouldn't dictate who you date, you should be cautious when introducing your partner to your family. Gauge how your family might react and take that into account before introducing them. When it comes to your relationship, it's you and your partner, so if you feel as though your family won't be accepting then you should avoid putting that external pressure on your relationship.

If your relationship continues to progress, the biggest mistake to avoid is trying to convert your partner to your religion. Unless your partner is open to it, you shouldn't bring it up nor pressure them to change their religion. If your partner does want to convert to your religion then you should talk with them to make sure they are doing it for personal reasons and not simply to make your relationship easier or because they think it will make you happy.

If you are married to someone who has different religious beliefs than you and you have children, be sure to handle them carefully when it comes to religious discussions. Before you have children you should be clear about how you will bring them up and you should be on the same page as far as which religion you will teach them about.

Whether or not your religious beliefs match up, after you discuss them you'll both be fully aware of each other's values and you can move forward how you both see fit. Being honest up front allows for you both to decide if the relationship is right and if your emotional, physical, and spiritual needs are going to be met.
