7 Hotel areas where your wedding guests are hooking up

Couple kissing on balcony

It's wedding season, and for the bride and groom, that means tying the knot. But for those attending the celebration, it may mean untying other things.

According to a survey conducted by MissTravel.com, 67 percent of wedding guests have hooked up with each other during or after the reception.

MissTravel.com,?the world's first destination-dating website, matches generous travelers who hate to travel alone with attractive travelers who would love the opportunity to travel the world for free. In doing so, the site matches travelers with similar hobbies.

"Attending a wedding alone means two things for singles: open bar and an all-day reminder that you're still single," says Brandon Wade, founder & CEO of MissTravel.com. "But many seize this opportunity to find a new connection with a like-minded single who is more receptive to finding a new love interest, even if just for the night."

Based on the confessions of 16,474 single travelers who took MissTravel.com's wedding survey over the course of two months, it seems that guests are quite creative when it comes to finding a hookup spot for their unofficial plus one. And in the heat of the moment, they don't always find the time to make it up to their room for a hookup.

"A lot of things can happen on the way to the room," says Wade. "In the heat of the moment, when you just want to feel loved right then, passion overcomes logic and suddenly you're doing the deed with the maid of honor in the elevator."

How we'd style Jennifer Aniston's wedding

Jennifer Aniston & Justin TherouxJennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston says she's not in any rush to get married because she already feels married to Justin Theroux. That doesn't mean we can't envision how her wedding should look. We enlisted the help of celebrity wedding planner and style expert Colin Cowie to help us create our fantasy Jennifer Aniston wedding.

Jennifer Aniston's hypothetical wedding dress

Jennifer's style is timeless yet chic, so I would love to see her in a lace-top strapless white gown. I also envision a vintage-inspired platinum wedding band with delicate engravings and diamonds. A thick hammered or woven men's wedding band set in platinum would perfectly complement Justin's daily uniform of jeans, boots and leather jackets. Since platinum lasts forever, Jennifer and Justin can pass along their rings as heirlooms to their children.Wedding ring ideas for Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston's hypothetical wedding decor

I love the idea of a romantic setting for Jennifer's wedding to Justin,?as we all know her as the sweetheart next door. As Jen is a California girl, an outdoor affair with lots of purples and violets, with accents of white, would suit her perfectly and create a romantic setting. Tons of sterling and lilac and pink roses would create a beautiful garden feeling. Nothing too fussy for Jennifer?—?just tasteful and down-to-earth.

Jennifer Aniston wedding food ideas

Food and drink should be simple and elegant. The wedding should begin with bite-size appetizers of shrimp, vegetables, cheeses and tiny slices of filet mignon, passed on trays. I would then design a fabulous sit-down dinner with a fish and a lovely lamb dish and plenty of fresh vegetables and vegan options.

Macaroons

How do you choose a favor for guests at Jennifer and Justin's wedding? The guests are sure to already have everything! So I would suggest sending everyone home with a fabulous box of treats — a piece of the wedding cake and some of the delicious goodies from a dessert bar. Macaroons are the new favorite dessert, and I would offer an assortment of interesting flavors like chocolate and pistachio from La Maison du Pain.

Jennifer Aniston wedding ritual ideas

I'd create a beautiful arbor at the start of the aisle. Before the ceremony begins, guests could be invited to write down best wishes for the couple that can be attached to the arbor. The bride and groom will walk through the "ribbon of wishes" and will have them as a memento of their special day.

Would you wear a wedding bikini instead of a dress?

Model Chrissy Teigen is teaming with Beach Bunny Swimwear to release a collection of wedding bikinis. Our question: Who will wear them?

Chrissy Teigen wedding bikinis

Wearing a wedding dress on the beach during your destination wedding is a bit daunting: The long, flowy material gets caught in the sand. Not to mention, it's impossible to clean.

Model Chrissy Teigen might have the answer, though we're not sure your grandma will appreciate it. The Sports Illustrated stunner?— who's engaged to singer John Legend — is teaming with Beach Bunny Swimwear on a wedding bikini collection.

"I want to wear a bathing suit for my husband that makes me feel sexy," Teigen wrote of the line. "I know other women feel the same way, so I was inspired to design a line."

The bikinis — set to go on sale in September — are feminine and sexy, yet not too revealing. Several promo shots of the line show Teigen and fellow model Kate Upton wearing veils, but it seems like the bikinis are more for after the wedding, not during — especially since some of the pieces have the word "bride" printed on the butt. Not exactly the kind of classy getup you want to capture in your wedding photos.

Or maybe you do... no judging here.

"While the swimwear had to be eye-popping as well as functional for honeymoon travel, it also needed to stand apart from other styles on the beach," she told People recently. "So we added a little humor!"

The pair is reportedly set to marry in Lake Como, Italy, in September — and Teigen will be wearing Vera Wang, not a bikini.

"There's nothing like putting on a Vera. The difference is so amazing. You feel like a princess," she told US Weekly earlier this year.

The pair will then travel to the Maldives for their honeymoon, she added to People.

"I'm excited. I can't wait for the ceremony. [John] and I have been working and traveling so much that we just let our wedding planner do everything," she said in May. "We're not neurotic about it. I just want to finally see all of my friends in one area."

But, will she wear one of her bikinis? Maybe... maybe not.

"I hate the beach," she told People. "I hate the sand."

Are wedding bikinis cute or tacky? Sound off below!

How much your wedding photographer should cost

Wedding photographer

When the cake is cut and the dress has been worn, one thing remains forever after the wedding (besides love, of course): the photos.

Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions a couple will make for their big day, but hiring an appropriately priced photographer can be confusing.

What's too high or too low? What percent of your budget should you spend? Here, professional photographers and wedding experts weigh in.

Generally speaking, you can expect to spend 10 to 15 percent of your budget on wedding photography coverage, and another 10 percent on any accessories you want to purchase, whether before or after your wedding, says Lia Moore, wedding designer and planner at Full Circle Eventi. Your package should include the digital negatives of your event, but be sure to clarify the specifics with the photographer. Many photographers will only enhance 10 to 15 photos, while the rest of the 700 images are only negatives, she warns.

"You'll hear a lot of people say 10 to 15 percent, but if photography is important to you, don't be afraid to make it a larger portion of your budget," says Christine Lee Smith, of Christine Lee Smith Photography. "Every person is different, but 10 to 15 percent is a good baseline average. Remember, in photography just like everything else, you get what you pay for."

The actual cost of the engagement and wedding photos varies greatly by city and what is included in the package, but a general estimate is $300 to $500 for engagement photo shoots, and $2,500 to $10,000 for wedding shoots, according to Steve Lesnick, photographer at Toastphoto. The bride and groom should read the contract carefully to see how many photos the price includes, whether an album is included, etc.

Experience also determines how much a photographer should cost. "A new photographer (less than two years pro) would be high-minded to charge $5,000," Smith says. "Years of experience add to the value, so make sure to look at plenty of samples. And don't be afraid to ask to see an ‘entire event,' not just the best of."

Wedding packages can be as sparse as shooting only, to as deluxe as including e-sessions and albums, she says. "In wedding photography, remember more is not always better," Smith explains. "Compare two hypothetical photographers, both charging $3,000: Photographer A is also including an e-session, eight hours on the wedding day, and an album; photographer B is only providing eight hours on the wedding day. Which is the better deal? It depends — the better question is whose photographs do you like more? It may be worth it to get less now, and have photographs that are worth saving later."

It's imperative to read the contract carefully to determine what kind of deal you're getting for your money, says Chris Mader, with Timothy Whaley & Associates Photographic Artists. "Do you have an out if you don't like the photographer?" He says. "When do you get to meet them? If it's two weeks or two months before your wedding, it won't matter if you don't like them; who on earth are you going to hire at that point?"

Lastly, Mader says be cautious of the lowest cost photographer. "Experience, professionalism, service and quality simply aren't cheap," he says.

Wedding videos are a hot trend and are often shown at the rehearsal dinner, bachelor(ette) parties or at the reception. But a professionally done video can be super costly, so rather than hiring an overpriced cameraman, try Cadaboo, a quirky video editing website that offers a team of professional animators that help to spice up your big day. Simply upload your favorite pictures and create a video that combines the personal and professional aspects you crave.

Polite answers to rude wedding questions

Woman answering phone

Weddings can bring out the worst in people, even your closest friends and family. What loved ones may think are innocent questions could prove offensive to the bride and groom.

To prepare for the avalanche of rudeness that can come with a wedding, take a look at these polite responses to some common prenuptial questions.

“It's inevitable that you'll get rude, intrusive questions when people find out you're getting married,” says Tina B. Tessina, psychotherapist and author of Money, Sex and Kids: Stop Fighting about the Three Things That Can Ruin Your Marriage. “Many people have no clue about what is acceptable or polite, so they ask.”

ring

This will likely be among the first questions you will be asked following the announcement of your engagement. The best way to brush off this question is with a joke, Tessina says. With a big smile or laugh, you can say something like, "two arms and a leg.” Then you can divert the person by changing the subject quickly: "That's a lovely color you're wearing."

You could also completely ignore the money question as though they didn't ask it, Tessina says: "Bobby surprised me with it at dinner."

Donna Flagg, author of Surviving Dreaded Conversations, suggests saying something like, “Gosh, I make it a habit to never discuss personal matters such as how much things cost."

The bride can also simply say she has no idea how much the ring cost — after all, some grooms do not divulge this information anyway. Ramani Durvasula, clinical psychologist and professor of psychology, suggests saying something such as, “You know, I'm not sure, we didn't really discuss it, and I trust that he made a choice that works for him and ultimately for our budget as we move into our wedding and marriage.”

“There is a perception with diamonds that bigger is always better; [and] nothing could be further from the truth, but explaining that isn't easy,” says Kevin Flaherty, vice president of marketing for Ritani, a designer and manufacturer of custom engagement rings and diamond jewelry.

Flaherty suggests responding with, "Isn't it a perfect diamond for my ring?! I just love how it sparkles."

Many brides these days are also opting for non-diamond engagement rings, so the bride can focus on why she loves the stone her groom picked.

Tessina suggests saying something to the effect of, "Thank you so much for volunteering, but my bridesmaids are already chosen, and they've all accepted."

It's best to be honest about this question, but it depends on the nature of the relationship, Flagg says. If it is someone close, then a full conversation explaining how the bride-to-be arrived at her decisions is appropriate.

If it is someone deluding herself that the relationship with the bride is more than it is, this probably also requires some clearing up. The response can be something as simple as, "It doesn't look that way." From there, you can cite all kinds of reasons such as minimizing the size of the wedding party, or keeping it confined to family, Flagg says.

If you and the groom are early in the wedding planning, Durvasula says, you can say something like, “It's all so new that I am still getting my head around the marriage part — the wedding is still a work in progress.”

Every bride faces this question, Flagg says. She suggests making it a logistics answer: "Unfortunately, we are managing the head counts and really need to stick with the number we've committed to."

Making it about logistics is the best way, Durvasula agrees. The couple can respond with something like, “I do hope so — we are trying to do this on a budget, so we are trying to figure out a way to do all of this and have those we love most without breaking the bank.”

Or something similar: “It's a balancing act of family, out-of-town guests, dear friends — so once we get a handle on that, let's touch base. We want it to be a fun day for everyone.”

Along the same lines as the date question, people may ask if they can invite their children. Your response can be focused on the budget, how many people the venue holds or if the venue even allows children. If you are having a destination wedding, some resorts do not allow kids.

As you enter the next big stage of your relationship, parents and grandparents, in particular, may be anxious for babies.

You can counter this question with something like, “We are focused on our wedding for now and haven't thought about a timeline for children yet.”

Or to keep them satisfied as you plan the wedding, say something like, "We are very excited to have kids, and we will let you know when that time comes. For now, we are focused on this stage of our lives."

Including stepchildren in wedding planning

In real life, merging two families may not always be as seamless as The Brady Bunch.

Parents kissing son on wedding day

Weddings may conjure up feelings of resentment and jealousy in stepchildren, but including them in the wedding plans can ease the tension. Here, experts offer advice on how to make your stepchildren feel as loved as possible as your families unite.

Adult children can serve as the best man, maid or matron of honor, and younger children can be wedding party attendants, ushers and readers at the ceremony, suggests Jillian Stevens, wedding specialist at Boca Raton Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort.

During the ceremony, the stepchildren and bride and groom can participate in a candle lighting or sand ceremony, signifying two families becoming one in front of their guests, Stevens adds.

For an extra sentimental touch, the bride and groom can add the children to their vows. “My husband and I included both of our children from previous relationships in our wedding ceremony… by writing vows to the other's child,” says Aprille Franks-Hunt, branding strategist and CEO of Women Recharged.

Some clergy provide a moment in which both families come together and forgive each other for past hurts and pledge to try to understand one another, adds Ruth Nemzoff, author of Don't Bite Your Tongue: How to Foster Rewarding Relationships with Your Adult Children.

Parents can also include a special dance with their children during the reception, says Randi Martin, owner of Always Fabulous Events.

Highlighting the new family tree on a mounted sign board and displaying it at the gift table is a great way to honor all family members, Stevens says. Photographs of the children could also be displayed on the place card table or gift table.

Other reception ideas include placing a personal note to the children on a printed menu card at each place or — if they are adult age — inviting them to give a toast at the rehearsal dinner.

One fun way to include stepchildren is to bring them to the actual cake tasting, says Janel Gonzalez, a Los Angeles-based wedding planner and CEO of Janel Gonzalez Events.

The family can try a variety of flavors, and the stepchildren can have a say in the design and decor of the cake. To make it even more special, the baker could design something small and special just for the stepchildren, Gonzalez says. “This could be in place of the traditional groom's cake,” she says. “A ‘family' cake is much more symbolic and fun for everyone involved.”

Lots of strong feelings arise during weddings, so parents should prepare for children to have emotional reactions.

“When dealing with my clients, I always suggest they ask someone important to the children to be in charge of them for the day, helping them to be included but also helping if they are having difficulties, so that the wedding couple can focus on each other as lovers and let go of the parenting responsibilities for a bit,” says Judy Osborne, licensed marriage and family therapist, and author of Wisdom for Separated Parents: Rearranging Around the Children to Keep Kinship Strong.

Dr. Richard Horowitz, parenting coach and author of Family Centered Parenting, suggests parents be as inclusive as possible with their children during the wedding planning and listen to any concerns the children might have. “Often the key concern is that the children might perceive participating in the ceremony as disloyal to the biological parent that Mom or Dad has divorced,” he says.

Adding manly flair to your wedding

Happy Couple on wedding day

Your husband-to-be may not care about creating floral arrangements or picking the perfect invitation font, but there's a good chance he still wants a say in the wedding plans. Unfortunately, he may assume there is no room for a masculine touch.

Check out these 10 ways to add manly flair to your wedding so the groom feels just as much a part of the day as the bride. After all, the day is for both of you!

Although the wedding cake is supposed to be for both the bride and groom, the end result is usually flowers and frills. Make your man feel better by ordering a special groom cake that reflects his hobbies and interests — like golf or guitar. Check out places like Sweet Grace Cake Designs in New Jersey for groom cakes.

Since most grooms don't have a bachelor party the day before their wedding (sorry if you thought The Hangover was a realistic movie), this is a much more relaxed way to encourage some male bonding before the wedding. If your wedding is being held at a golf course, it makes it even easier!

This is one of the few aspects of the wedding planning that doesn't involve decor, and he can listen to cool DJ mixes as he weighs the options. Once you choose the DJ or band, enlist your fiance to create a song list (you have veto power, of course).

Ride into the sunset in style with a classic car. Your man can cruise the internet for rental options while listening to that DJ mash-up. Companies like Something Vintage Something Blue offer classic car rentals for the big day, like '37 Buicks and '34 Plymouths.

Whether it's tipping, negotiating prices or handling the budget, it's likely your fiance will take pride in managing the wedding fund. If he likes spreadsheets and math, you're in luck!

What's more symbolic of a celebration than a cigar? Add stogies to the reception and watch men's eyes light up with glee. You can go the extra mile with an on-site cigar roller such as On-Site Cigars Entertainment. Just make sure you know the smoking rules at the venue before you make any decisions.

Instead of choosing two hyper-feminine colors for the wedding decor (like peach and rose), consider a more masculine accent color like dark gray, hunter green and chocolate. In addition to choosing masculine colors, you can incorporate masculine textures like wood into the wedding decor.

Hand your man a hammer and nails and ask if he can make things for the wedding like wooden boxes for centerpieces, or if he's really handy, an arch! But before you approach him, know his limits. If you think this will be a fun (and feasible) project for him, go right ahead. But if he doesn't have a carpentry bone in his body, steer clear of this suggestion or you could create a pride-crushing experience.

Men and beer go together like strawberries and chocolate, peanut butter and jelly… you get the idea. Putting your man in charge of a creative drink menu will make him forget about the endless array of table linens you had him choose from. An added touch to the beer supply: Order customized wedding beer labels.

Wedding theme: Zen wedding inspiration on the inside and out

Your wedding day can be hectic, so why not counter it with a calming Zen theme? By incorporating elements like wedding-day yoga, running water and peaceful music, you can create a serene oasis for you and your guests.

Zen is all about being in the now and clearing your mind and environment of distractions, so keep the decor clean and simple, using whites and earthy tones.

Here are some ideas to get you started!

Hold your cocktail hour in a lounge filled with white furniture, simple floral centerpieces and relaxing lighting. The tangerine pillows in this photo provide a nice pop of color to the crisp white decor, and the black blankets offer contrast. The result is a reception that looks as inviting as a spa.

Zen lounge

Wedding-day yoga

Yoga is a great way to decompress the morning of your wedding. Before you tend to the last-minute details, it's vital to nourish your own physical and mental needs. Make it a group event with your bridesmaids.

Calming centerpieces

Zen centerpieces can take many forms: candles in sand, succulents surrounded by smooth stones, mini Zen gardens with rakes, bamboo stalks. The tea light votive garden pictured combines candles with red and black sand, making for a peaceful centerpiece.

Zen fountain

Few things are more peaceful than the sound of a babbling brook. Add relaxing sounds to your ceremony by placing small fountains around the room or outdoor space. The sound of flowing water will also give guests the feeling of being close to nature.

Visualize the perfect day. Close your eyes and imagine your wedding day and the calming environment you have created, inside and out. Envision yourself walking down the aisle toward the love of your life.Choose peaceful music. Although you will probably want to have dance music at your reception (otherwise people may fall asleep with all the calming vibes), your ceremony and cocktail hour can include songs with flutes, chimes and water. Check out the Zen Garden station on Pandora.com for some ideas.Location, location, location. Although you can still pull off a Zen wedding in a traditional banquet hall with the right decor, having the celebration in a natural environment like a garden makes it much easier.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Succulent bouquets are perfect for both the do-it-yourself brides and the environmentally conscious ones.

Succulent plants have been gaining popularity in place of — or as a supplement to — traditional flower bouquets, and it's easy to see why.

The thick, fleshy “petals” of succulents come in a variety of amazing colors (moon glow, anyone?); the succulents can live out of water for several weeks, allowing the bride to make the bouquet in advance; and after the wedding, the succulents can be replanted!

Disclaimer: This project requires a bit of craftiness and patience as you learn how to wire the succulents and arrange them in an appealing way. I found it pretty tricky at first to wire the rosettes, but caught on with a little practice.

The bouquet project can be made significantly easier by purchasing pre-wired succulents from companies such as Succulently Urban.

Here, we take you through the basics of making a succulent bouquet that you and your groom can treasure in the garden or windowsill for years to come:

Supplies:

Succulents (about two dozen rosettes for a full succulent bouquet, and a dozen or less for a bouquet supplemented by succulents)?Filler plants and flowers (eucalyptus, dried baby's breath, lavender, etc.)Floral tapeFloral wire (I used 20-gauge, pre-cut wire)Burlap/fabric/ribbon for bouquet handleScissors and/or wire cutters

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Remove succulents from pots and discard the roots and dead leaves. Wash and dry stems.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Push floral wire through the bottom of the succulent stem.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

For some succulents, wiring the stems alone is not enough because it can easily snap at the wire or right above it, says Marialuisa Kaprielian, owner of Succulently Urban in San Diego. Sometimes it is important to drive a wire diagonally through the head of the succulent and down into the stem or along the side to prevent snapping of the stem, she says.

After inserting the wire into the base of the succulent, reinforce the stem by folding another wire into a loop and placing it against the base (stem) of the plant. Use the un-looped portion of the wire and wrap it around the succulent stem, twisting your way down the floral wire.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Starting at the bottom of the succulent rosette, wrap floral tape down the wire stem. Stretching the tape as you make your way down the stem causes the tape to stick to itself, Kaprielian says. Follow the aforementioned steps with the other rosettes until you have about two dozen for a full succulent bouquet, fewer if succulents are only the supplement.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

It's helpful to do this in front of a mirror to determine how the bouquet will look as you walk down the aisle.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Once you have a “rough draft” of your bouquet, gather two succulents and wrap them together with floral tape.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

Each time you add an item to the bouquet, wrap all the stems together with tape and use a chopstick to strengthen the stem, Kaprielian suggests. She uses kalanchoe tomentosa around the base of the bouquet to hide any open spaces.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

After you have finished adding all the flowers, tape the entire bouquet together.

Use the burlap or fabric of your choice, pinning at the neck of the handle to secure it. Then continue wrapping it until you reach the bottom. Secure with floral pins. For extra flair, wrap or tie a ribbon around the handle.

DIY succulent wedding bouquet

About three to four weeks after the succulents have been living on wires as a bouquet, they will start to grow roots and are ready to be replanted, Kaprielian says. Then you can enjoy them for years down the road!

This program sells new and used wedding gowns from prices ranging from $75 to $3,500 and up. Seventy-one cents from every dollar raised is donated to various programs and charities dedicated to fighting cancer. Gowns are available in sizes ranging from 0 to 28 and accessories include tiaras and short veils. In addition, there are also gowns available for bridesmaids and the mother of the bride. This organization offers a thoughtful and affordable way to plan your special day.

DIY wedding hairpiece

DIY wedding hairpiece

If you're still experiencing sticker shock after buying your wedding dress, making your own hairpiece might ease the pain.

Hair accessories bought in bridal shops can cost an arm and a leg, so making hairpieces for you and/or your bridal party can help you save money for more important things (ahem… like the honeymoon).

The supplies for your hairpiece can be found in craft stores, flea markets and/or fabric stores for a very reasonable price. To incorporate your something old, ask a female relative if they have a piece of costume jewelry they would like to donate for your project. Double bonus: Use a blue jewel and knock out your something old and something blue.

For this hairpiece, I bought an inexpensive already-made hairpiece from a craft store and removed the hair clip backing and jewel to create a new piece. Tip: Don't discount a jewel that you're not crazy about on its current hairpiece — when paired with feathers and netting, mine transformed from crafty to vintage.

DIY Wedding hairpiece

Cut a piece of netting and gather until it folds like a fan. Tie together with a small piece of wire.

DIY Wedding hairpiece

Glue netting onto metal hair clip backing.

Experiment with different feather arrangements before gluing.
It's important to hold the project-in-progress against your hair to see how it will look.
Glue feathers over netting, making sure to cover the entire metal backing.

Trim the bottom of any feathers sticking out under the jewel.

After the hairpiece dries, ask a friend or family member to help you test different hairdos incorporating the hairpiece. Then take pictures so you can show your wedding stylist!

John Travolta crashes a Georgia wedding

John Travolta surprised a Georgia couple over the weekend by crashing their wedding rehearsal. Then, he showed up at the wedding!

John Travolta

John Travolta was up for some fun while in Georgia recently. The actor apparently made an impromptu stop at a young couple's wedding, much to their delight!

"My friend ran into John Travolta the night before his wedding, and he shows up the next day," a Reddit user posted, along with an album of the newlyweds with a happy Travolta.

The actor, clad in a black T-shirt and jeans, posed in several of the couple's official wedding photos —?he even posed with the family.

Love it!

It's not the first time he's stopped by a wedding unannounced.

"We were having fun, starting to relax, when we saw there was a wedding next door," Travolta told USA Today in 2009, referring to Robin Williams. "We figured we'd crash it."

Travolta isn't the only celeb that's shown up unannounced at a wedding, though.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were just strolling down a Malibu beach in July 2011 when they heard his hit "One Less Lonely Girl" playing at a nearby wedding reception. So, naturally, they stopped by.

"Last night at my cousin Jeanine's wedding reception, out of nowhere, Justin Bieber shows up while one of his songs was being karaoked by one of the wedding guests," a YouTuber wrote on an uploaded video. "He stated that he was driving by the reception in Malibu and heard a party and his song being sung, so he decided to check out the event and ended up making a celebrity appearance."

Bieber and Gomez thought it was pretty fun, judging from his later reaction on Twitter.

"WEDDING CRASHERS last night," he tweeted. "hahaha. too funny. crazy story."

Katy Perry and Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson reportedly celebrated his split from Kristen Stewart by crashing a May wedding with pal Katy Perry.

"Katy and Rob were just sitting next to each other watching the wedding rehearsal in the main courtyard area," guest Stephanie Sands told People of the wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California,?adding that the bride was the one who spotted the famous duo.

"They were dressed very casually. She was wearing a hoodie and big sunglasses. There was no PDA between them and no body language that showed they were dating. They just sat together and watched."

Queen Elizabeth

A British couple decided to invite Queen Elizabeth II to their Manchester wedding on a whim after learning she would be in the city during their nuptials.

To their surprise, she showed up.

"Basically it was a wedding gift for us," said bride Frances Canning.

Wonder if she signed the guest book, too?

Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress sells... for $188K!

The dress Elizabeth Taylor wore to the first of her nine weddings just went up for auction. Let's just say it's a little out of our price range.

Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress

The dress Elizabeth Taylor wore to marry Conrad Hilton in 1950 was just auctioned off at Christie's in London — and it ended up bringing in way more than what the auction house expected.

The dress — created by costume designer Helen Rose — sold at just over $188,000 to an unnamed buyer. That's like $917 for every day of Taylor's 205-day marriage.

"The dress is inextricably tied to the golden age of Hollywood, as well as to the extraordinary life and career of the star who wore it," Christie's director, Nicolette Tomkinson, told Vogue of the white satin gown covered in bugle beads and seed pearls. "Since it was unveiled, it has attained global appreciation, resulting in competitive bidding for it today."

It's a gorgeous dress, but it's from a particularly painful time in the late actress's life. Taylor married the hotelier when she was 18 — and she later accused him of "extreme mental cruelty" during their union.

"The honeymoon in Europe lasted two weeks," Taylor wrote in her 1965 memoir. "I should say the marriage lasted for two weeks. Then came, yours sincerely, disillusionment — rude and brutal."

Taylor, of course, went on to marry eight more times — including two marriages to the "love of her life," Richard Burton.

She eventually swore off marriage when her marriage to construction worker Larry Fortensky ended in 1995.

"You don't get over men like the flu," Taylor said after her divorce in 1996, according to the Associated Press. "Every divorce is like a little death."

"I said I'm through with marriage, but I'm not through with men — that wouldn't be realistic."

Is Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress worth $188K?

Copy Kristin Cavallari's wedding dress for less

Kristin Cavallari wears Monique Lhuillier

Kristin Cavallari finally wed Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in a Nashville ceremony last weekend. Not everyone can afford her Monique Lhuillier gown, so we've rounded up a few look-alikes that won't break the budget!

Kristin Cavallari was tight-lipped about her wedding plans, but the former reality star is now sharing photos of the Monique Lhuillier gown she wore to wed Jay Cutler in Nashville. The gorgeous gown featured a fitted bodice that showed off her toned body, along with a flare bottom. She paired the dress with a romantic half-up, half-down hairstyle, a bouquet of white peonies —?and shoes she designed herself!

"They looked incredibly happy and like they were having a great time," a source told US Weekly of the bride and groom. "It was a fun, laid-back wedding with lots of music and dancing."

Cavallari's bridesmaids reportedly wore one-shoulder, champagne-colored dresses with bouquets of white and pink flowers. Cutler and the couple's 1-year-old son, Camden Jack, wore matching gray suits, according to reports.

But, back to the dress: We're so in love with it, but Monique Lhuillier is little above our price point. We managed to find some look-alike (and affordable) dresses to take the gown's place, though!

The Development of Wedding Songs

Now, it will be very good to note that in the older days, the concept of wedding and the coming together of man and woman was completely traditional, and it took all its songs traditionally. With the arrival of Christianity as was exemplified in the catholic fold, we witnessed a level where almost all the wedding songs that existed were the Latin liturgical hymns. At this period in question, the domination of the church on culture, tradition, and paganism was also experienced in this. What it brought about was that the songs during the church wedding ceremonies was completely solemn, all trying to teach the whole world what marriage is all about. This was very necessary then due to the controversies about divorce and the number of legitimate wives a man should marry that rocked the church at that time.

After this period, we then get the period of the renaissance which was characterized by the secession of the English church from the Catholic fold. During this period, before any wedding ceremony is done, the banns of marriage have to be announced at the church 3 times for three Sundays, to notify and seek for any marriage impediments. When there are none, the wedding ceremony is then due. What this time lag means is that they have more time to prepare for the ceremony, and this includes the songs. Another thing that influenced the wedding songs of then is that they engaged in elaborate wedding ceremonies within this period. Their wedding procession normally begins at the house of the bride. From there, the whole train and crowd marches solemnly to the nearest religious center for the wedding. Of course you should know that this solemn procession that takes miles in most cases will not be without songs. With this, there was room for many songs more than we have now.

From this period we then moved to the contemporary period. Now, when it comes to wedding songs (Bryllupssanger) of this period, a lot of things are involved. What we have come to witness is that when you come to African and some Asian states, they engage in two types of wedding ceremony. In Africa, they have what is called traditional wedding ceremony that takes place in the house of the bride. This cultural event also has a lot of songs used to mark it. All these are traditional, and played with a lot of musical instruments usually applauding the goodness of marriage, the beauty of the bride, the handsome nature of the groom, good wishes to them, and appreciation to the parents for bringing them up in a very good way. The infusion of some level of culture and tradition is also found in the United States. But there is now a great influence being wielded on this by the contemporary art and music system.

Alcott Johnson has written all the material for 123sang. In this written article, he has penned about the Wedding songs (Bryllupssanger). He also explains about the Confirmation Songs (Konfirmasjonssanger) so that every reader get's to know more about that. He loves to write on such topics besides writing poetry.
