Getty ImagesA French study has confirmed what some of us already knew: women really dig musicians.
Researchers from the University of Brittany South sent a 20-year-old man at a mall, where he asked 300 women for their number. He approached the first 100 holding a sports bag, the next 100 holding a guitar case and the third 100 taking nothing.
Guess which group he had the highest success rate with?
Women who saw him with a guitar case.
And last place? Sorry, gym rats, but it was the gym bag.
We can only speculate why, but we think that it must have something to do with a musician seem like a sweet, sensitive and intellectual presence. It is quite shocking to address unexpectedly, and women hesitate (legitimately) of most of the guys trying to pick them up. This is why a musician might have come off as less threatening than your average guy.
But this study really proves it is just how superficially judge us others. So if you that did not have much luck picking up, take that personally - it was perhaps simply because you did not have a guitar.
